All going to plan – John Kirwan and the Mitey team will make a ‘lunch’ stop on Tuesday 12th July to share the reason behind the massive drive across NZ - our regular Club programme has been changed from a Club Forum to a lunch meeting with a guest speaker format Tuesday 12th July 12.15pm – 1.45pm Kelvin Hotel – Level 6 $26pp for light lunch with cake, tea & coffee [Parking @ H J Smith included] Sir John Kirwan, mental health advocate, is driving across Aotearoa thanks to a partnership with Land Rover, to raise awareness for mental health and raise funds for the Mitey Programme to be delivered in Schools. Mitey is a fresh approach to teaching mental health as part of the New Zealand curriculum, enabling children to learn about it at school, every day, just like literacy and maths. Mitey was developed over two years by the Sir John Kirwan Foundation with input from highly experienced specialists from the University of Auckland as well as New Zealand educators, teachers, and clinicians. The intent is that Mitey will help address the rising rates of depression and anxiety in our children and ultimately turn our mental health and suicide statistics around. Check out the website for more information: https://www.mitey.org.nz/ As part of this tour - there is a Land Rover Defender 90 up for grabs for just $20 per ticket to raise funds to roll out this charitable initiative to more schools. St John Community Engagement Co-ordinator
Aug 16, 2022 12:15 PM
Tracey I started with St John in 2018 and am now in year five, with my job title and description changing slightly last year. I am now the Community Engagement Coordinator for St John across Southland – covering from Te Anau, down and around the coast, taking in Lumsden, Riverton, Winton etc and back up to Hokonui and Tapanui. My role is exactly what my new title says - co-ordinating engagement within the community, on behalf of St John. I am fortunate that I get to spend time out of the office, touching base with multiple groups/organisations/
Braden I have recently returned to Southland after working in Auckland in frontline ambulance and management roles for the past 10 years. Very excited to be back home supporting my community in Southland as the Area Operations Manager for Southland St John. I am still a practising paramedic and enjoy getting out in the ambulance every now and again. My area covers the greater Murihiku and Hokonui territories or from Te Anau to Tapanui and everything South. My family live in Pukerau just north of Gore on a sheep, beef and deer farm. I am passionate about the people of Southland and providing a world class ambulance service in the South.
