Kia Ora,

I hope everyone is having or had a great long weekend.

There is no meeting on Tuesday (October 26) as it is the fourth week in the meeting schedule - social events instead.

The friendships and fellowship of Rotary keep coming up as important reasons as to why members joined and what they enjoy most about Rotary.

We have a good mix of events coming up to offer these key components for members, families and the perfect opportunity to introduce someone to our Rotary group.

The first is our culinary “fun”draiser on Thursday (October 28). Seats are limited so to secure yours contact Chami. More details about the evening is included in the story section below.

On Sunday, (October 31), we have the 10 Pin Bowling and everyone is welcome. You can find more details in the events section of the bulletin.

On Tuesday (November 2), we have Ngāi Tahu head of strategic relationships Rakihia Tau as our guest speaker. This will be a perfect opportunity to bring along a contact, colleague or someone that would like to know more about "what Rotary is like"?

We have extended invites to Inner Wheel, and the other Rotary clubs to this luncheon.  Assistant Area Governor Aydan Erickson has confirmed he will attend.

As always partners, friends, family are welcomed that may be interested in this guest speaker.

I look forward to seeing those of you who are able to support/attend the culinary "fun"draiser on Thursday.

See you later - mā te wā

Sri Lankan Food Night

Don't forget to book for the "Every Child a Future" fundraising Sri Lankan dinner on October 28. The food has just a little bit of spice that will leave you wanting more. It's a three course meal including a fish cutlet and papadam as a starter, chicken fried rice, devilled chicken and dhal curry for the main and pineapple fluff as dessert. First glass of bubbly, beer or orange juice free on arrival. Cash bar available.  Cost: $65 per head – all profits go towards Give Every Child A Future.

World Polio Day

For 30+ years, Rotary International & partners have been driven to eradicate polio. In 1988, there were 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries. Today, polio cases have been reduced by 99.9 percent, and just two countries continue to report cases of wild poliovirus: Afghanistan and Pakistan.
