RYLA - ROTARY YOUTH LEADERS AWARDS

Kate Pope - RYLA 2021 applicant

Kate Pope is the successful candidate who the Club is sponsoring in conjunction with Malloch McClean to attend the District 9980 RYLA event being held in Queenstown next week.  Invercargill born and bred, 25 year old Kate, went to James Hargest completed her Degree at Otago University to return to Invercargill as an Accountant with Malloch McClean.

When we caught up with Kate this week - she was "looking forward to the opportunity" and "getting out of her comfort zone".  Kate is going to join us for lunch in the coming weeks to share her RYLA experience.

RYLA is a high energy programme, adopted by Rotary International (RI) in 1971, designed to develop young leaders between the ages of 20 and 29 around the world to help the next generation of leaders extend their skills.  Thanks to Kieran O'Neill for his work on the RYLA applications & selection.  If any members would like information on the 2022 programme or to make an early nomination enquiry - please connect with Kieran.

 Pumpkins for Polio

Our Club is looking to participate in Pumpkins for Polio this year

A fun way for  members to raise funds and awareness for the continued fight to eradicate Polio.

Pumpkin seedlings will be distributed to Members / Clubs in the District and we have until Anzac weekend 2022 to nurture the biggest pumpkin possible and have a heap of fun in the process.

(District will cover the cost of 1 seedling per 10 members of a club)

We need to do our research on how to grow the biggest possible pumpkin now and get the plot ready well in advance. The weigh in will be at Cromwell Conference 2022

If you are interested, keen to be part of this fun project ,have a patch for the pumpkins - please connect with Chami in person at a meeting.  More details to follow.
