Hello fellow Rotarians,

It seems like we will be in for a glorious weekend! It was great seeing so many of you at Past President Lisa-Maree’s house yesterday where we came together for much laughter and delicious food at the Potluck BBQ social event. It certainly was a stunner of a day to have a BBQ!
Hello fellow Rotarians,

It seems like we will be in for a glorious weekend! It was great seeing so many of you at Past President Lisa-Maree’s house yesterday where we came together for much laughter and delicious food at the Potluck BBQ social event. It certainly was a stunner of a day to have a BBQ.

I only have a few notices and reminders this week as it was a non-meeting week for us.

Santa Parade
Chief elves Ross and Alice are diligently preparing for Santa to visit Invercargill on 25 November, as the guest of honour at our annual Santa Parade. However, we will need help to get the sleigh ready, along with the other floats that may need sprucing up. If you are able to help out, the team will be down at CP Wool Store, 815 North Rd on:
  • Saturday 18 November 9am – 1pm
  • Tuesday 21 November 5.30pm onwards including Fish ’n Chips tea. Please remember this replaces our Club Forum meeting.

We need all hands on deck! Please feel free to bring your family and friends to help with this important work for our city. The work includes cleaning, painting or other general parade prep so please dress accordingly.

Santa Parade Sausage Sizzling 'Fundraiser'
The Club will be co-ordinating a Sausage Sizzle fundraiser following the Santa Parade on Saturday 25th November. If you would like to be involved in helping with this fundraiser for Club Projects - please contact Lisa-Maree.

Rotary Foundation Month
November is Rotary Foundation Month, and it would be remiss of me not to encourage our club members to make personal contributions and participate in Foundation grants to keep Rotary Foundation strong. It is from the Foundation we receive global grants, support the end Polio campaigns, support Ukraine, disaster response and other activities that enable Rotary Foundation’s motto of “Doing Good in the World”.

If we needed a reminder of what the Rotary Foundation achieves, I have copied below a snippet from the District 9999 Rotary Foundation update from October 2023:

District 9999 Ukraine Disaster Grant
The following message comes from colleagues in Ukraine:
“Thank you and your district for your support of this project. 10 (water purification) devices were produced and installed in five communities in two regions of Ukraine. The devices were placed in schools, hospitals and people's supply points. Each device provides 500 to 1000 local residents with clean water. Local administrations have provided easy access to water for people. And also committed to maintaining the devices. It is very important that the devices were manufactured in Ukraine, which allowed to support the local manufacturer. And give people a job. We've also branded the units with the Rotary logo and your district logo. As well as the New Zealand flag. “
