Hello Fellow Rotarians
The year is flying by and I can’t believe we are in March. The weather has changed and we are officially in Autumn now.
Given the change in seasons, it was poignant that we had Sumaria Beaton talk to us this week about her company, Awarua Synergy and the options for insulting our homes and houses.
This was a very interesting presentation and Sumaria busted a couple of myths around what we thought were the best ways to keep warm and reduce our power accounts.
Thank you Sumaria for taking the time to visit our club, for the heat pump service vouchers and sharing lunch with us.
On Friday our "social club" organised a catchup at the Tuatara Cafe, which was well attended and an enjoyable couple of hours.
We are lucky to have such a vibrant social club committee, and they have a series of fun activities planned throughout the year which I look forward to attending when I can.
These social activities are not limited to club members only, but family and friends are also most welcome to attend, so keep a watch on the bulletin for upcoming events.
On Saturday Lisa- Maree Fleck, Karen Poff, Karen Whitham and I attended a District 9999 Rotary training and planning day which was well attended by the other Clubs in Southland, and it was also nice to connect with other Rotarians again outside of our own club.
Rotary is going through a clear transformation in ways that make the organisation more appealing to like-minded people of all ages who are looking to add back to the community in different ways, along with enjoying the fellowship, connections and social activities that Rotary clubs offer.
The Rotary lead team who presented on the day have a wealth of knowledge and experience behind them and are committed to helping our clubs succeed and prosper. Thankyou Lisa-Maree, KP and KW for giving up your Saturday to attend this meeting with me, it was very much appreciated 🙂.
A reminder that we have our first "Forum meeting" for the year on Tuesday 11th at the Kelvin hotel in the Kelvin room, level one and I hope you have time to attend.
Take care.
Michael.
