Hello Fellow Rotarians,

My apologies for not being able to get this bulletin out yesterday.

This past week I was in Auckland for work and therefore was unable to get to the Rotary lunch meeting on Tuesday. I was however advised that our guest speaker Robert Todd provided a great overview of the Valuation profession, including the operation and regulation framework of registered valuers. Members have commented that it was a very coherent, useful and practical presentation. Thank you, Murray, for getting us such valuable speakers. And thank you SoC for chairing the meeting during my absence.

Last Saturday was an absolute stunner of a day, and the perfect backdrop for one of the best Santa Parades our city has seen. My husband and I drove the newest addition – the one-eyed monster float which was also home to Elmo and the Cookie Monster. It was amazing to see so many people out with their families and the number of wide-eyed children we had on the streets that day was astounding.

Our Rotary BBQ was a sell-out! Thank you to the club members that supported the BBQ and helped sell a record number of sausages. A very special vote of thanks to Past President Lisa-Maree, her partner Karl, and her two beautiful girls Camryn and Ashlyn. Karl was our chief sizzlers, and Camryn was our main money taker. Also, thanks to Karen Poff and her two gorgeous girls Georgia and Caroline for helping out on the day. Georgia and Lisa-Maree were our main bread butterers and then we had club members Karen, Ria and Helen putting everything together and delivering the sausages with much finesse. Arsalan and I were there supporting from the fringes of a very busy tent!

However, our most special thanks go to Helen Cook who organised and managed the fundraiser. Her organisational skills are phenomenal, and we’ve already had a debrief and know how we will make next year’s event even better.

Lisa-Maree thank you for getting our Rotary branded tent, the chairs, Rotary branded bottles of water with QR codes, information leaflets and the sunscreen!

Well done team, it was a great fundraiser with much laughter and merry making.

We now have a guest speaker for next week, Jim Dowling who will be speaking to us about his company – Digital Stock. We will also have our new members Arsalan and Karen Witham deliver their 3-minute speeches. I have a Board meeting on Tuesday and may not be able to attend however Lisa-Maree will lead this meeting for us. We will also have our Christmas Hamper collection for Family Works at the meeting so please bring your non-perishable donations on the day. The hamper will be placed at Great South thereafter, if you want to drop of any donations later.

I would also like to remind our club members about the Christmas lunch on 12 December. Like last year, we will have a special yummy Christmas spread, a lot of Christmas songs, perhaps some karaoke and a good deal of laughter! Please bring your partners, families and friends along. It will also be the last chance to donate to the Family works hamper as Lisa-Maree and I will be handing the hamper over on 12 December.
