It's been a busy week for Rotary!
Kia ora Club Members,
We've had a lovely week of connecting with Rotary family and friends this week.
We started with lunch at the Cheeky Llama in Queen's park. It was great catching up with so many of you and hearing tales of your summer holidays! They may seem like a distant memory, especially with the weather being so nasty... but it looked like everyone had a good break with their loved ones.
What a wonderful turnout at our Membership Mixer this evening! It was lovely to see many new faces, and members of the public that came along to the First Friday event. I met some amazing people, but in particular a big shout out to Richelle, her lovely daughter Cheyanne and good friend Karen. Thank you for letting me ramble on about Rotary! It was great having Past President Ronald Dickens at the mixer as well. He was the lucky prize winner of an extravagant BBQ set and gift basket, courtesy of the Civic Theatre. I look forward to seeing Ron at our 100th anniversary celebrations later this month.
Speaking of which, you would have all received the invitation from the 100th Anniversary Dinner Committee for the special celebrations on Saturday, 24 February 2024. I do hope most of you can make it to this very special occasion, after all we'll only turn 100 once!
A quick reminder that our first formal lunch meeting will be held on 13 Feb 2024. Please note that the Kelvin have had a cancellation, therefore we will be located back in our usual venue on Level 6. Murray has organised a very special speaker for the 13th, Joe Wakefield, who has in-depth knowledge of many, many of years of Māori history in Southland. We'll have Joe's bio up next week as we are still waiting on this from him.
Have a lovely weekend everyone, and those who have taken Monday off - enjoy your extra long Waitangi weekend.
