A Rotary campaign to raise awareness of domestic and family violence, which began in Ballina, New South Wales, in 2018, has expanded across Australia and New Zealand.

A local campaign is now being launched in Invercargill this October.

The campaign focuses on prevention and awareness, challenging behaviours that are not acceptable and promoting relationships built on respect, equality, safety and kindness.

To help raise awareness, people are invited to wear purple on a Friday 23 October.

A community walk is also being coordinated in Invercargill on 5 December 2026, with more details to follow.

How can you show your support? Start by wearing something purple on Friday, 23 October. You can also help simply by starting a conversation: let others know about the campaign and talk about it with your family, friends and work colleagues.
