The Grace Street Project has been confirmed as the major recipient of our 2024 Book Sale.

Janette Malcolm, Chair of Invercargill Community Connections Trust
with Book Sale Chair Richard Russell

The Grace Street Project is a dynamic initiative set to transform south Invercargill with a vibrant, all-weather venue that will offer opportunities for learning, recreation, and connection for everyone as well as a Youth Technology Hub and dedicated Youth Lounge.
Janette Malcolm, Chair, of Invercargill Community Connections Charitable Trust (IC2) formed in 2020 to develop and run the Grace Street project says the organisation is very grateful and excited to be the major recipient.
Ms Malcolm said that the support of Rotary for the Grace Street Project will be of huge benefit financially and Rotary’s endorsement of the project will also assist with the remaining fundraising.
Almost 70% of project funds has been raised to-date, with construction hoped to start in October 2024.  For more information about The Grace Street Project go to http://https://www.thegracestreetproject.nz/

Book Sale Committee chairperson Richard Russell says the Grace Street Project aligns with the Rotary Club’s goals and objectives around youth, education and everyone being welcome.
The annual event continues to be popular with the public, this year, after many years at the Civic Theatre, the event will be held at a different location, the Scottish Hall.
The Book Sale Committee has started the set up of the venue now, with Richard King leading the charge of venue set up.  More details on the venue, rosters, and how members can help will be included in next weeks bulletin.

The club has donated more than $1 million dollars back to organisations in the south from the previous 42 Book Sale events it has held.
“Rotary is about service above self and as a club we support many community projects. This event, by our community – for our community, has been a successful fundraiser for 43 years.”
